You can add buddies to your phone contact list in two ways depending on your phones capabilities. The fastest way to populate your phone contacts is to use a combination of the two methods, depending on the total number of contacts you want to fetch.
SonyErisscon phones have a build in limit for the maximum contacts that varies with the model. The SE phones can store from 20, 30 and 50 contacts depending on the phone model. If the total number of contacts exceeds the phone limit, we recommend to combine the automatic population with the manual editing.
For example: download your Yahoo contacts, then if you have more than the phone limit, delete from them. Then add manually the most used MSN or AIM/ICQ contacts. At the time Yamigo performs the automatic population of contacts all the existing contacts from eg: Yahoo will be deleted first so that the list obtained from Yahoo is kept accurate as a copy in Yamigo's database.
Automatic downloading
You can ask Yamigo to automatically populate the contact list by enabling "Fetch contacts" in your profile. You need to log in and then visit "Your Details" page from "User menu".
You have the option to enable contact lists fetching, for every external account for which you have defined a username and a password. The fetch flags will be reset at the next succesful login. AIM and ICQ are treated as one.
This feature is supported by most of the SonyEricsson phones. Soon will be available for Motorola phones.
Nokia downloading of contacts
You can download the contact list created automatically by the Yamigo server from Yahoo, MSN, AIM and ICQ. To download your contact list to your phone, first you need to set the "Fetch contacts" in your profile before you login. Once you logged in go to: Menu| Messages| Chat| Chat contacts| Options| Add contact| Copy from server. Select to download the list that looks like "~pep1.0_subscriptions-1" maybe being prefixed by your username at Yamigo. The phone will give you the possibility to choose which contacts whould be downloaded in your local phone book. Use Mark and Unmark to select them and confirm by "Done". The phone cannot retrieve more than 20 contacts from the server.
Manual editing
The buddies you want to add to your contact list need to look like this:
K700i and alike (we are not sure yet which other phones) need to encode the address with %40 sequence rather than with %2540. The best way to know which way your phone needs it is to let a first message arrive to your phone and then save the sender as a buddy rather than enterting it manually.
Note (31st Dec 2004):All contact names having two "@" signs in the username need to escape the first one with the "%2540" or "%40" sequence. |
